Throughout the short month of February, many recording artists released some great singles and albums that you should definitely hear and possibly add to your March playlist.
‘Love’ Lana Del Rey
Lana released her first single in a long time last month and it was most definitely worth the almost two-year wait. I must say it is one of Lana’s best songs, if not the best song of hers.
‘Dumb Blood’ VANT
VANT released their debut album this month & it is the best album I have heard in a long time. The political opinions voiced throughout is extremely powerful & important, everyone should hear this album. Click here to see my full album review.
‘Dirty Laundry’ All Time Low
Their first proper release since their 2015 album ‘Future Hearts’ which is soon to follow by a possible new album in the near future. It has a real nostalgic presence of the old All Time Low music with a new modern twist.
‘Chained To The Rhythm’ Katy Perry, Skip Marley
Yet another Katy Perry cheesy pop song.. or is it? It has really strong and empowering lyrics revolving around society living in their own bubbles rather than dealing with the real problems that need to be solved in the world. The song doesn’t actually specify the problems the world has to face in the song, she leaves it to her listeners to apply their own problems into the song, though it does have a substantial political charge to the song.
‘By Your Side’ The 1975
In aid of War Child, The 1975 released a single to raise money for the charity. It has a very autotuned synth cover of Sades ‘By Your Side’. The opinions on it are fairly controversial but personally, I am in love. Click here to see my full opinions.
‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ Stormzy
I must say, I really love a lot of this album. I feel as if some might say ‘Oh Stormzy, grime, I hate that’ but the people who say that are too quick to judge. I actually really like a few songs off Stormzys brand new album which aren’t ‘typical’ grime such as ‘Blinded By Your Grace, pt. 1’, ‘Velvet / Jenny Francis – Interlude’ and ‘Mr Skeng’.
- ‘Double Dutch’ Superfood
- ‘There’s a Honey’ Pale Waves
- ‘Fire That Burns’ Circa Waves
- ‘Ring Pop’ The Orwells
- ‘How Would You Feel’ Ed Sheeran
